A little late…

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

Hope everyone had a wonderful Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa. I know this post is a little late but I’ve been sick and needed some rest. I’m still trying to get rid of this cold, taking shots of NyQuil and drinking lots of tea. Hopefully it’ll be gone by New Years. We had a pretty good Christmas, Jackson got a butt load of Yo gabba gabba stuff, puzzles, books, rock star Elmo, a drum and keyboard, a remote control car (which was more for dad…)clothes, a tent and a sled, which he loves. He pulls the sled out and sits in it in the living room and makes you pull him around. I hope we get a little snow soon so we can play with it outside.

We were supossed to take pictures with santa but Jackson had a runny nose and a little cold so I had to cancel the appointment, twice. By the time he was feeling better it was too late to get pictures by Christmas so I busted out my best photographer skills and went to work. Here’s some of what I got:

Now it’s on to New Year’s, I can’t believe 2012 is 3 days away. Looking back at last New Year’s eve Jackson was just learning to sit up…now he runs to me, hugs my leg and calls me mama. Even though I have my bad days I couldn’t feel more blessed. I truly am thankful.

The Paper Mama

Let’s DIY.

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

I was looking for the perfect bowtie for Jackson to wear on Christmas but couldn’t find one at any of the stores I went to. I did find a bunch of cute ones on Etsy but it was hard to tell the true colors and if it would go with his shirt. So what’s a mama to do? Bust out the sewing machine and make one herself. And that’s what I did.

Chillin like a Villain

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

Oh Fall, how you will be missed. I knew the days would come…the days of 30 degree weather, naked trees, runny noses, puffy coats, staying in, and all the other fun stuff that comes with winter. Boo.
But before the snow comes we will try to get out as much as we can. This day the BF took us out for breakfast and Jackson was being good eating his food and drinking his milk from a straw. I always worry when we go out because you never know what kid will show up at the table, the nice little boy who eats his pancakes or the devil child who throws his pancakes at people. We had the good boy that day. Thank goodness…

Jackson was featured on Baby Blackbird’s Mini Street Style the other day:

Baby Blackbird is one of my favorite kiddie style blogs so I was super excited when I got the email telling me  Jackson was going to be on the site. Dressing boy’s is a bit more challenging being that a lot of places don’t offer thatmuch variety, compared to the girls section which usually takes up a whole side of a store.  I dress Jackson the way I wantto dress. I usually wear men’s button downs and always liked the menswear look. I also don’t spend more than $20 dollars on Jackson’s clothes, unless it’s for a special occasion or shoes(babies need good support),  I’m a thrifty mama and some of my favorite pieces of Jackson’s came from yard sales, thrift stores, consignment, hand me downs or ebay. I also go straight to the sale section of any store.  You don’t have to spend a lot to have great style.

Thanks again to Brandy of  BBB  for having Jackon on your blog =)

Being Thankful.

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday ,ate some good food and had some happy family moments. My Thanksgiving was cool, we ate, watched the parade, played with toys, went for a walk and ate some more. It was a good day. I didn’t get too many pictures because Jackson was having an off day, I think he’s getting some molars and that makes for a cranky baby.

This year has had more ups than downs and I am so grateful for that. I thank god everyday for my baby, my family , my friends and my life. I know there are people out there who have nothing and noone and I don’t take my life for granted. Sure I have my bad days but I snap out of it knowing tomorrow is a new day and another chance to be happy and to make the ones I love happy and for that, I am thankful.

The beauty of it all…

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

I don’t remember ever loving fall as much as I do right now. It must be the whole parent “seeing things through my child’s eyes” thing. The joy Jackson gets out of picking up every leaf that passes him by, looking at weeds with such amazement or finding the right twig to add to his “treasures” is enough for me to stop and enjoy the moment that we are in. To take a break from all the stress and worry of everyday life, not to worry about how clean the house is or what to make for dinner. You know, all the annoying stuff that comes with being an adult.

Jackson’s not saying words yet but he is “talking”. And yelling. When we go to the playground he yells at the leaves. And the kids. Aye. Just part of learning and growing, for him and me. (more…)

I know we just celebrated Halloween and Thanksgiving is 3 weeks away but I’m pretty excited about Christmas. Last year Jackson was only 4 months old and didn’t really know what was going on. This year I can’t wait to see him rip open his presents and play with his gifts. I’m a confessed slacker when it comes to Christmas shopping. I hate black friday, I blame working in retail and seeing people act like animals for a sweater, and once thats over it seems like Christmas is the next day. That’s when I find myself 2 days before the 25th freaking out because I haven’t bought anything for anyone and I don’t have time to make anyone anything. So this year I’m starting early. I already bought 2 things for Jackson, which, of course, one has already been given to him =/

Here are some things that are on my to buy/wish list: (more…)

Falling for Fall

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Jackson’s new thing is to pick up every leaf, rock , twig, flower, basically anything on the floor and carry it around until he sees something new. It’s kinda cute…until he tries to pick up abc gum off the floor. eww.

Pumpkin Time!

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

One of the best thing’s about being a parent is getting to do all the “kiddie” stuff again as an adult. I haven’t been pumpkin picking in forever so I was super excited to take Jackson. The weather was beautiful and the BF had off which made it even better. It was the cutest thing seeing Jackson trying to pick up the biggest pumpkins at the farm. After about a half hour he finally settled on a little pumpkin and carried it half way to the cashier. It was a great day and I can’t wait for Halloween =) (more…)
